4 Kindergarten Readiness Tips for Success ✏️✨
Getting ready for kindergarten is more than ABCs and 123s. Here’s how to make sure your little one is all set for the big day with some fun and practical tips!
- Follow Two-Step Directions
- Why: Helps with understanding and completing tasks.
- How: Give your child two-step directions and make it a game! One example is “Go to your room and make your bed.” Easy peasy!
- Ask for Help (From Someone Else)
- Why: Builds confidence and independence.
- How: During playdates, encourage them to ask another parent for help when needed. This could be for finding a bathroom, getting a drink of water, or needing a snack!
- Bathroom Independence
- Why: Essential for self-sufficiency.
- How: Practice complete bathroom routines, including turning on lights, using the bathroom, washing hands, and managing their clothes. Make it fun with stickers for each step completed!
- Sharing and Taking Turns
- Why: Fosters social skills and cooperation.
- How: Teach your child to take turns and work together, rather than just telling them to share. Problem-solving skills will be a game-changer in kindergarten!
